“ | An ingenious mix of lab equipment and kitchen utensil, the Wave Cooker does exactly what its name implies: Point it at something organic, and watch it cook from the inside out until it bursts in a gout of viscous fluids. Recipe book not included. |
— Weapon Description |
The Colette Wave Cooker is an unlockable secondary weapon for the Driller. It is a hand-held microwave emitter composed of various metal parts and a series of electrical inductors. An arm brace secures the grip in the back with the trigger wired directly to the microwave generator. A single amplifying lens is positioned at the front, directing deadly microwave energy towards anything the weapon is aimed at.
The Wave Cooker, similar to Gunner's "Lead Storm" Powered Minigun and Driller's Experimental Plasma Charger, feeds from a single ammo pool and has an overheating mechanic. This means that heat will be produced for as long as the trigger is held down, which is measured on the weapon's digital display. After firing for an extended period of time and completely filling the heat meter, the Wave Cooker will jam, rendering the weapon inoperable for the overheat duration.
When using the Wave Cooker, a cylindrical microwave "beam" is produced and inflicts continuous damage onto any unobstructed target that is within its path. The beam itself is invisible with visuals only appearing from its point of impact and also has an effective infinite range. The weapon's crosshair attempts to depict the width of the beam based on the distance between the weapon and its impact point, however after a certain amount of distance, the width of the beam appears much smaller than the crosshair due to the perspective of a cylindrical projection with a static diameter.
Enemies killed by the Wave Cooker produces a unique visual effect, which also happens to prevent the Glyphid Exploder's death explosion.
Modifications
There are five tiers of modifications and each tier has two to three upgrades. Only one modification can be equipped per tier.

x3 shot width | "A concave lens that curves the microwaves outward and increases their impact radius" | ||
Tier 2 | ![]() Heat Sink |
-20% heat generation | "Jamming a heat pipe into the magnetron seemed unsafe and irresponsible initially, but it really helped reduce heat build up! " | |
![]() Larger Power Supply |
+2 Rate of Fire | "By simply exchanging your power supply to a bigger model your rate of fire is increased" | ||
![]() Thermoelectric Cooler |
+50% Cooling Rate, -0.5s Overheat Duration | "R&D fitted your weapon with a thermoeletric cooler, increasing its ability to cool down faster" | ||
Tier 3 | ![]() Densification ray |
+Densification ray | "Tweaking the transmitter wavelenght causes microwaves to densify organic matter temporarily, making harder for targets to move" | |
![]() Temperature Amplifier |
+Temperature Amplifier | "A new hybrid circuit makes microwaves compensate for sudden changes in temperature, causing them to heat or cool burning or frozen targets further and radiate their temperature to surrounding enemies " | ||
Tier 4 | ![]() Wide Lens Add-on |
+Wide Lens Add-on | "Push reload to activate the Wide Lens Add-on which curves the microwaves further, but the power required to use it takes a toll on the cooler, increasing heat per shot. Push reload to deactivate it. " | |
![]() Power Supply Overdrive |
+Power Supply Overdrive | "Push reload to put the power supply into overdrive, significantly increasing rate of fire. To compensate for the power flow the waves are focused inward at the cost of AoE radius. Push reload to deactivate it. " | ||
Tier 5 | ![]() Contagion Transmitter |
+30% damage bonus against poisoned and corroded targets +Contagion Transmitter |
"A transmitter that enables rays to destroy poisoned and corroded cells in hit targets, increasing damage output with a chance to spread a poisonous vapor to nearby enemies. " | |
![]() Boiler Ray |
+Boiler Ray | "Exposure to the microwaves cause the liquids within biological targets to expand, giving them a chance to explode. " | ||
![]() Exothermic Reactor |
+25% Temperature Shock Chance +Exothermic Reactor |
"R&D has plugged in a temperature scrambler that makes the microwaves cause quick shifts in temperatures of burning or freezing targets, triggering a temperature shock that spreads a mist of extreme heat or cold. " |
Overclocks
Overclock calculations happen after modifiers.

---|---|---|---|---|
Overclock | Effect | In Game Description | Price | |
Liquid Cooling System
![]() ![]() |
|
"Extremely efficient cooling system that helps the weapon generate slightly less heat, makes it cool faster and will spend less time jammed." | ||
Super Focus Lens
![]() ![]() |
"A lens add-on that focuses the microwaves significantly, enhancing their damage output for up to 4 meters." | |||
Diffusion Ray
![]() ![]() |
|
"With some mechanical stress to the heat generator the microwaves can penetrate deeper, being able to go through several enemies at once and slows them down. However the stress takes its toll on the generator and decreases its damage output slightly" | ||
Mega Power Supply
![]() ![]() |
|
"A bit on the larger side, but with a few modifications to the weapon you can now use the most powerful power source R&D could smuggle back from the black market. The extra energy boosts rate of fire and total ammo at the cost of a lower cooldown and longer unjam duration." | ||
Blistering Necrosis
![]() ![]() |
|
"Adding an experimental electron tube makes the microwaves generate more heat, boiling the skin of enemies in the shape of large blisters. The blisters bypass armor, enhances incoming direct damage and hurts the target when popped. The large amounts of heat generated comes at the price of a lower cooldown rate." | ||
Gamma Contamination
![]() ![]() |
|
"Installing a lens of uranium glass cranks the radioactivity of your microwaves to 11. Hit targets have a chance to be contaminated with radiation, suffering damage and emitting harmful radioactive waves to nearby enemies. The small size of the lens reduces microwave impact radius and damage, while the amount of power required reduces total ammo." |

![]() Temperature Amplifier |
Temperature Amplifier is a modification that adds Heat or Cold area damage to the Colette Wave Cooker whenever it is striking a creature that is either On Fire or Frozen. If the target is on fire then the mod will add Heat damage in an AoE, and if the target is frozen then the mod will add Cold damage in an AoE. The area is centered where the Colette Wave Cooker strikes, not on the creature's center of mass, so it will spread temperature faster to enemies closer to where the weapon is pointing. |

![]() Exothermic Reactor |
Exothermic Reactor is a modification that gives the Colette Wave Cooker a 25% chance to afflict Temperature Shock on a creature afflicted with either On Fire or Frozen. The creature will take 200 Disintegrate damage and immediately drop to its dousing or unfreeze temperature and spread either Heat or Cold to nearby creatures but not the afflicted creature itself. |

![]() Contagion Transmitter |
While a creature is afflicted with Neurotoxin, Corrosion, or is currently in contact with a Goo Puddle any damage dealt by the Colette Wave Cooker's beam has a 10% chance of afflicting the creature and nearby creatures with Contagion Transmitter's Neurotoxin. If a creature is afflicted with Contagion Transmitter's Neurotoxin and another source of Neurotoxin, it will not display both status icons. but the effects will work normally.
This modification also provides a 1.3x damage multiplier for the Wave Cooker's direct damage to creatures standing on a Goo Puddle, afflicted with Corrosion, or afflicted with Neurotoxin from either the Neurotoxin Canister or the Gunner weapons. |

![]() ![]() Gamma Contamination |
Gamma Contamination gives the Colette Wave Cooker a 25% chance to apply a Radiation DoT to any enemy that is struck directly by the weapon. The radiation DoT is split into two different effects. The first is a direct DoT applied to the irradiated enemy, and the second is a radioactive field that surrounds the irradiated enemy. The irradiated enemy is not damaged by the radioactive field unless there is another irradiated enemy nearby with its own radioactive field. The radioactive field will not stack with itself should more than one be in contact with an enemy. |
