The Corrosive Sludge Pump is what happens when the maintenance staff are left with too much time on their hands. A complicated network of piping, distillation bottles, and safety valves results in a very capable device indeed - lobbing globs of toxic waste at those you disapprove of has never been so fun! |
— Item Description |
The Corrosive Sludge Pump is an unlockable primary weapon for the Driller. It is a large sludge dispenser that fires corrosive sludge, capable of melting enemies. It consists of a number of pipes and valves wrapped around a fuel tank with a nozzle.
The Sludge Pump has two firing modes; Tapping the fire button will fire a single fragment of sludge whereas holding the fire button and releasing will fire a sludge bomb that causes several fragments to fly out upon impact.
When a corrosive projectile impacts an enemy, that enemy becomes visibly coated with sludge and takes damage over time (DoT). When the projectile impacts a surface, it creates a corrosive puddle that causes DoT to any enemy walking over it, along with slowing them down.
Modifications
There are five tiers of modifications and each tier has two to three upgrades. Only one modification can be equipped per tier.
Overclocks
Overclock calculations happen after modifiers.

Overclock | Effect | In Game Description | Price | |
Hydrogen Ion Additive
![]() ![]() |
![]() |
"Experimental additive that activates on impact gives a small improvement to the corrosive DoT and slowdown effect of direct hits." | ||
AG Mixture
![]() ![]() |
"Anti-gravity pellets suspended in the sludge let the projectiles fly further and faster." | |||
Volatile Impact Mixture
![]() ![]() |
|
"Special mixture increases immediate projectile damage at the cost of the long term corrosive and slowdown effects and puddle lifetime as the volatile compound evaporates much faster." | ||
Disperser Compound
![]() ![]() |
|
"Charged shots break apart into more fragments on impact and each fragment is more potent, however the initial damage of the charged projectile impact is reduced." | ||
Goo Bomber Special
![]() ![]() |
|
"The addition of finely tuned timed separation compounds cause the charged shots to leave a trail of sludge as they fly through the air. However the projectile depletes its mass as it flies, dealing less impact damage as fragments separate and completely expiring once all fragments are dropped." | ||
Sludge Blast
![]() ![]() |
|
"The charged shot cohesion is disrupeted on firing, instantly shooting out fragments in a shotgun-like blast. While spectacular the modifications result in reduced magazine size and ammo capacity by an extented reload process." |
Stats Breakdown
Understanding the Weapon
- Damage is how much damage is dealt upon direct impact of an uncharged shot.
- Charged Area Damage is how much damage is dealt within the damage radius around the impact of a charged shot.
- Charged Fragment Damage is how much damage is dealt by each fragment spawned by a charged shot.
- Charged Fragment Count is the amount of fragments spawned by a charged shot.
- Effects Duration is the amount of time in seconds that corrosion affects an enemy when it is directly impacted by a corrosive projectile
- Puddle Lifespan is the amount of time in seconds that a corrosive puddle persists after a corrosive projectile lands on surface
Normal and Charged Shot Breakdown
Normal Shots & Charged Fragments
- Damage Type: 50% Kinetic / 50% Corrosive
- Damage Radius: 1m
- Max Damage Radius: 0.5m
- Minimum Damage: 25%
- Hitbox Radius: 0.25m (0.20m for Fragments)
Charged Shots
- Damage Type: 50% Kinetic / 50% Corrosive
- Damage Radius: 2.5m
- Max Damage Radius: 1m
- Minimum Damage: 25%
- Hitbox Radius: 0.45m
Corrosion Mechanics
Enemies hit directly or caught within the splash radius of the sludge projectiles have a 100% chance to be applied with Corrosion. (Note: Enemies walking through a corrosive puddle will not apply/refresh this effect.)
- Damage (per tick): 8
- Damage Type: 100% Corrosive
- Tick interval: 0.2-0.25s
- Duration: 4 seconds
- Slowdown: 35% (x0.65 Movement Speed)
Puddle Properties
Enemies take damage for however long they remain on a corrosive puddle. (Note: This DoT stacks with the aforementioned Corrosion DoT effect.)
- Damage (per tick): 4
- Damage Type: 100% Corrosive
- Tick interval: 0.2-0.3s
- Duration: 12 seconds
- Slowdown: 45% (x0.55 Movement Speed)
- Hydrogen Ion Additive Overclock does not affect the puddle damage or corrosive puddle DoT or Slowdown
- Puddle Diameter is affected by whether the puddle was created by a normal shot or a charged shot. Charged fragments create the same size puddles as normal shots
- Normal diameter: 1.2 meters
- Charged diameter: 2.4 meters
- Puddles ignite after accumulating 20 Heat from any source. While burning the puddles deal additional Fire + Heat damage to enemies that walk through them
- Additional Damage (per tick): 12 Fire
- Heat (per tick): 12 Heat
- Tick Interval: 0.5-1.0s
In addition to the applying a damage over time that deals both Fire and Heat damage the Burning Goo Puddles are considered to be On Fire with a 1.7m Area Heat Radius. Along with this the Burning Goo Puddles act as an Environmental Heat Source with an Intensity value of 1. To calculate the total heat being applied to any given bug simply use this formula:
- Heat per Second = [ Current Intensity Temperature per Second ] + 5 * [ Nearby Puddles ]
Most of the time the amount of additional Heat damage will simply be 2 + 5 * [ Nearby Puddles ]. The Heat Intensity can be raised or lowered in the presence of other Environmental Heat or Cooling effects such as the Blizzards that may occur in the Glacial Strata.
Slowdown Mechanics
The two modifications, Protein Disruption Mix and Hydrogen Ion Additive, that affect the Sludge Pump's two sources of slowdown do not add to or replace the slowdown stats. Instead they act as separate multipliers to enemy movement speed.
Movement Speed Multiplier Values | |||
---|---|---|---|
Modifications | Corrosion Status Effect | Corrosive Puddle | Corrosion + Puddle |
Base | x0.65 | x0.55 | x0.3575 |
Protein Disruption Mix | x0.4875 | x0.275 | x0.1341 |

Fluoroantimonic Acid increases the damage of both the Corrosion status effect and the Corrosive Puddles. The extra damage added to the puddles comes in the form of a second damage over time effect with its own tick rate and damage. |

Unique Overclocks

![]() ![]() Goo Bomber Special |
Goo Bomber Special is an unstable overclock that causes Charged Shots to drop their Fragments straight down while flying, instead of upon impact. Every Fragment dropped reduces the damage of the main projectile. After every Fragment has been dropped / collide with an entity or the terrain, the main projectile is instantly destroyed. | |
![]() ![]() Sludge Blast |
Sludge Blast is an overclock that changes the Charged Shot into a shotgun-like blast of the Fragments instead of a larger projectile. Fragments use the Charged Shot's damage instead. Charge Shots are also launched at a 3° angle instead of the normal 9° angle. |
Mastery
Each modification that is purchased advances a mastery bar by one unit.

Trivia
- The Corrosive Sludge Pump's weapon prototype used the Platform Gun model and its goo blobs more closely resembled the goo generated by Goo Sacks.
