“ | The Patrol Bot is a defensive drone from a Rival Company, with versatile traversal options in combat covering both ground and air. It shoots a plasma laser from the particle accelerator placed inside its "head" - which is also its weakspot. Its metal exterior makes this a durable, tough enemy, but the firewall protecting its AI software is easy to bypass, making it a perfect target for your state-of-the-art Hacking Device. |
— Miner's Manual Description |
The Rival Patrol Bot is a hostile enemy found on Hoxxes IV. It has very distinct circuitry lining across its body, with the glowing orange circuitry being most noticeable on its "head". The head has a barrel on the front of it which is used to deliver shots. The body structure consists of several rings in the middle, a sphere used for ground movement and legs similar to the M.U.L.E.’s, but with small engines, used for flight.
The Patrol Bot only appears in Industrial Sabotage missions, missions with the Rival Presence mutator and missions containing a Prospector Drone, a Prospector Data Deposit and/or a Rival Communications Router.
Combat
The Patrol Bot is fairly mobile and will fly up to attack dwarves like a Mactera Spawn. It alternates between bursts of fire and aiming single fire shots at players from its head turret. If damaged enough it will fly around erratically and reposition itself. It is capable of using the sphere under it to perform a quick evasive roll across the ground.
If the killing blow is landed on the Patrol Bot's head, the head will combust, and the Patrol Bot's body will drop to the ground and roll around randomly, exploding after a short delay (unless it becomes hackable).
When its health is depleted, there is a chance the Patrol Bot will cease combat and float to the ground, the orange circuitry on its head turning white while emitting a greenish glow. If this happens, players have 30 seconds to use their Hacking Device to hack it and turn it into an ally. In this state, it will fly around and target enemies. Should it remain unhacked for longer than 30 seconds, the Patrol Bot will explode and die. Patrol Bots spawned by the Caretaker cannot become hackable.
A hacked Patrol Bot is always airborne and can only attack using its Focus Shot. Even though its airborne nature gives it a great advantage against most enemies, it still has health and can be destroyed - which is pertinent since ranged enemies such as Macteras, hostile Patrol Bots or stationary Rival turrets will prioritize hacked Patrol Bots over the dwarves. In addition, a hacked Patrol Bot constantly loses health at a slow rate, which naturally limits its lifespan.
There is no hard limit to how many allied Patrol Bots there can be at the same time during a mission, but the more of them the team has, the lower the chances are that another Patrol Bot will become hackable.
Health and Armor
The Patrol Bot possesses a high health pool and is extremely resistant to poison damage, the only weakpoint being its head, which can often be difficult to hit due to the Patrol Bot's mobility. It also cannot be frozen, though it will still take damage from sources such as the Cryo Cannon.
Although it cannot be set on fire, the Patrol Bot will instantly die if its heat meter is filled.

- Focus Shot: Similar to the Sniper Turret, the Patrol Bot takes aim at a dwarf using an orange laser before firing a singular high precision area-damaging shot. The Patrol Bot's variation of this attack is relatively stronger, though shorter in range compared to the Sniper Turret. The Patrol Bot can only use this attack while airborne.
