The Glyphid Stingtail deviates significantly from the rest of the genus, having evolved an unusually long and flexible tail with which it reels in prey from afar. The chelicerae and front claws have been scaled down in favor of sturdy and sharp tusks with which it gores its prey. R&D discourages attempts to outrun them and instead advices to engage in evasive maneuvers before attempting a proper take-down.
— Miner's Manual Description

The Glyphid Stingtail is a hostile Creature on Hoxxes IV. It can be found in any region. It is a member of the Glyphid family, although with physical features distinct from the rest of the genus. The Stingtail possesses a long and flexible tail with a five-pronged claw that curls up over its body. Its fangs and front claws are shrunken in favor of three sharp tusks that protrude from its head. Furthermore; its beige body and legs are protected by a layer of thick, black scales with various horns and sanguine accents.

Combat

The Stingtail utilizes both its tail and tusks during combat. Firstly by extending its clawed tail towards Dwarves, then grabbing and pulling them in to be stabbed by the creature's sharp tusks. This combo attack is comprised of two seperate moves; the Sting Whip and the Tusk Slam. It is worth noting that both moves can be performed independently from one another.

The Sting Whip attack is telegraphed by a loud screech shortly before the creature attempts to incapacitate you. The grabbing maneuver is unusual among other projectile based attacks in that it predicts the movement of the Dwarf it targets. To avoid being grabbed it is advised to quickly change trajectory before the Stingtail launches its attack, and it's crucial to do so as not only will it interrupt actions such as setting up the Uplink or using a Resupply Pod, but it can also potentially fling a Dwarf into the air, leading to doom by fall damage.

The Stingtail is vulnerable to damage when attacking a hidden neon blue weakpoint under a breakable layer of armor on the top of its head. It also possesses weakpoints on its mouth and rear.
