The Glyphid Stingtail deviates significantly from the rest of the genus, having evolved an unusually long and flexible tail with which it reels in prey from afar. The chelicerae and front claws have been scaled down in favor of sturdy and sharp tusks with which it gores its prey. R&D discourages attempts to outrun them and instead advices to engage in evasive maneuvers before attempting a proper take-down.
— Miner's Manual Description

The Glyphid Stingtail is a hostile creature on Hoxxes IV. It can be found in any region. It is a member of the Glyphid family, although with physical features distinct from the rest of the genus. The Stingtail possesses a long and flexible tail with a five-pronged claw that curls up over its body. Its fangs and front claws are shrunken in favor of three sharp tusks that protrude from its head. Furthermore, its beige body and legs are protected by a layer of thick, black scales with various horns and sanguine accents.

Like its name would suggest, its primary attack makes use of its large tail, although it does not sting its target and instead grabs them to bring them into melee range. It is similar to a Q’ronar, as both make use of attacks that forcefully move players around.

Note: The Back Weakspot image in the creature infobox shows the weakspot after it has been revealed by breaking the heavy armor covering it.

Combat

The Stingtail utilizes both its tail and tusks during combat. When dealing with a player outside of the range of its tusks, it will use its tail to perform its Sting Whip attack, grabbing its target and flinging them towards itself. Once the Stingtail's target is within melee range, it will attempt to skewer them with its Tusk Slam attack, dealing heavy damage.

Shortly before the Stingtail attempts to grab a player, it will telegraph it through a bright red glow on its tail and by emitting a loud screech. Unlike other projectile attacks, the Sting Whip attack uniquely predicts the movement of the player it targets. To avoid being grabbed, the targeted player should quickly change their trajectory right before the Stingtail tries to grab them. Depending on the Stingtail's and target's positions, being grabbed and launched by the Sting Whip attack may cause the targeted player to take fall damage, making the Stingtail especially dangerous when it is on a wall or near a deep pit.

If the Stingtail does successfully grab a player, it will have a long cooldown before it can use the Sting Whip attack again. This gives its target ample time to retreat to a more favorable distance (assuming the targeted player survived the attack).

Stingtails are almost completely covered with heavy armor, making them very resistant to direct damage. Players can get around this by using weapons with a high armor break modifier or by exploiting the Stingtail's weakness to explosive damage. The Stingtail also posses multiple weakpoints: one is located on its mouth, and the other is on its back (albeit covered by heavy armor).
