Creatures
Hoxxes IV is home to a variety of flora and fauna, and many of them pose a great threat to invaders. They are part of the reason why Deep Rock Galactic was once the only mining corporation willing to operate on Hoxxes IV.
The most notable of these creatures is a species known as Glyphids. They are similar to arachnids in appearance, have a variety of subspecies, and are extremely hostile. Glyphids can be encountered in small groups while roaming the caves, and periodically build up to attack in concentrated waves. When they decide to swarm the dwarves, Mission Control will warn them of the attack in advance.
Along with Glyphids are various other species found on Hoxxes IV. Macteras are a winged species that primarily use ranged attacks while airborne. Naedocytes are a species similar to jellyfish, and serve as the airborne counterpart to Glyphid Swarmers. There are also a variety of creatures that do not belong to any of the more commonly encountered species such as the Spitball Infector, Xynarch Charge-Sucker, Q'ronar Shellback and Nayaka Trawler. While most of these creatures are hostile, there are a few that remain passive around the dwarves.
Hostile creatures will only attack dwarves, L.U.R.E.s, tamed grunts, broken pipes, pheromoned enemies, the Drilldozer and Hack-C, ignoring Bosco, the M.U.L.E., BET-C, sentries, the Minehead and the Mobile Refinery.
Scaling & Hazard Levels
In addition to increasing the number of enemies during the mission and swarms, the hazard level also increases their health, damage, movement speed, attack frequency and the speed of their projectiles from ranged attacks (on higher difficulties). Furthermore, additional players in the game will increase enemy numbers, resistance and damage.
The increased resistance of each enemy to damage is represented here as eHP, or effective Health Point, simplified as Health in this page. In reality, the creatures' actual health will not change, but their resistance to all damage increases with hazard level and the number of players. eHP is thusly used as it’s more convenient to consider the creature having more health than the weapons doing less damage.
You can see the base health of each creature directly displayed in the tables below. By clicking on the health number, you’ll be able to see the full scaling for that creature.
For more information on scaling, see Hazard Level.
Elite Enemies
Elite enemies are stronger variants of regular enemies that only spawn with the Elite Threat warning.
They resist more damage, are affected less by status effects, move faster, and gain other bonuses, including different behavior. Elite enemies can be distinguished from regular enemies by their larger size, distinct aura of vertical red lines, and "Elite" title above their health bar and name when looked at.
• List of enemies that have an Elite variant: Glyphid Grunt Guard, Glyphid Grunt Slasher, Glyphid Praetorian, Glyphid Acid Spitter, Glyphid Menace, Mactera Spawn, Mactera Brundle, Mactera Tri-Jaw, Mactera Grabber and Glyphid Bulk Detonator.
Ground Enemies
Much of the fauna and some of the flora on Hoxxes IV pose a threat to players.
Note that enemy damage and health varies based on a mission's hazard Level and number of players.
Glyphid
Glyphids are the most common enemies found in Hoxxes IV. They appear in every biome, and their weaker variants will make up the majority of most swarms. They loosely resemble arachnids, all possessing eight legs, exoskeletons, and bodies split into three main segments. All Glyphids have a significantly larger pair of front legs as compared to the rest, lack any visible eyes, and (excluding the Glyphid Menace and the Glyphid Stingtail) have a large mouth with jagged, pointed teeth, and a lower jaw which can split along the middle. All Glyphids are capable of climbing along or hanging onto walls and ceilings, and the majority burrow up out of natural terrain when they spawn.

Q’ronar
Q'ronar are an uncommon race of armored, centipede-like bugs capable of folding into ball-like forms and ramming themselves into any unsuspecting dwarves. They are especially dangerous as they can quickly knock an inexperienced team off balance, allowing for other enemies to easily overwhelm them or forcing them into the radius of environmental hazards. The Q'ronar Shellback can be found in nearly every biome on Hoxxes while the weaker Q'ronar Youngling is exclusive to the Salt Pits only.

Korlok
A rare boss enemy comprised of numerous Sprouts, Healing Pods, and the Tyrant-Weed itself which is the heart of it all. Destroying the Korlok Tyrant-Weed is a difficult task, but upon defeat it will reward the players with very valuable Tyrant Shards. The Korlok Tyrant-Weed has a small chance of spawning in any biome. It will not appear in Point Extraction missions.

Lithophage
As of Season 03: Plaguefall, an infectious lithopage known as the "Rockpox" has plagued numerous regions of Hoxxes IV, infecting the wildlife and making them all the more dangerous. Rockpox enemies are unique in that they are much more durable than their normal counterparts and can apply the Rockpox Infection status effect to dwarves. However, destroying any of the numerous yellow blisters on the creatures' bodies will cause massive damage to them. Rockpox enemies will always spawn near Contagion Spikes in missions with the Lithopage Outbreak mutator. They also have their own unique swarm which can occur during Mining Expedition or On-Site Refining missions.
The Rockpox Corruptor is a rare boss enemy which, like a Contagion Spike, must be defeated using cleansing equipment, upon which it will drop three Plaguehearts which can be deposited for tremendous XP rewards.

These creatures lack any broad group of species they can be sorted into, but they present a threat to the player all the same. Many of them happen to be somewhat rare, being limited to particular biomes or mission modifiers, or simply having a low chance to spawn in any mission.

Flying Enemies
Mactera
Macteras are flying insectoids, and are generally the most common breed of hostile creatures other than Glyphids. Macteras that enter the mission area after the Drop Pod arrives, by means of swarm or otherwise, will do so by simply appearing wherever there is enough room to fly.

Naedocyte
Naedocytes make up a small caste of floating creatures, split between the Naedocyte Breeders and their Roe and Hatchlings and the naturally spawning Naedocyte Shocker. Naedocyte Hatchlings and Shockers are small, fragile, jellyfish-like creatures which flock to players in groups before stinging them. Like Macteras, Naedocyte Shockers can show up mid-mission by appearing as a cluster near the players. Naedocyte Hatchlings hatch out of the Roe laid by Naedocyte Breeders.

Rival Tech
As of Season 01: Rival Incursion, machines from a rival mining company have infiltrated Hoxxes to gather data for mining potential while opposing the efforts of Deep Rock Galactic. This is found in Industrial Sabotage missions, Rival Presence mutators, Prospector Data Deposit events, Rival Communications Router events and Prospector Drones. The Nemesis also has a small chance of spawning at the beginning of any mission.
In addition to the resistances listed here, all of these enemies will instantly die when fully lit on fire, regardless of remaining health. The Caretaker and Prospector Drone cannot be fully ignited.
