The Acid Spitter is another offensive member of the awful Glyphid genus. The mouth parts of the Acid Spitter has evolved into an almost crossbow-like mechanism, allowing it to pelt intruders with vile, acid-tipped barbs. To add insult to injury, they are fast, agile, and stick to ceilings and dark corners. Prioritize taking these out early - left unchecked, they can cause enormous damage to even a well-structured team.
— Miner's Manual Description

Glyphid Acid Spitters are ranged Glyphid enemies that cannot perform melee attacks. Similar to Glyphid Web Spitters, Acid Spitters are exclusively ranged enemies that will crawl on the walls or ceilings, usually avoiding close combat, before stopping and firing several acid projectiles that deal a good amount of damage initially, in addition to lingering acid damage. Acid Spitters, though difficult to spot in the darkness of the caves, can be identified by pinpointing the location they fire from as their projectiles are illuminated in the dark. Acid spitters have a distinctive red hue, so try to spot them on the walls and ceilings before they can fire their projectiles.

Glyphid Acid Spitters do less damage to the drilldozer in Escort Duty than they do to players.

Combat

Health and Armor

Acid Spitters have light armour and low health. They are therefore, relatively easy to dispatch but can prove to be a trouble for shorter-ranged weapons.

Attacks

Acid Spitters only has one attack in which they spit out a pyro-corrosive vomit that deals damage over time. Whilst individually, the projectiles are easy to dodge, they can prove to be very dangerous if the player is either blinded and slowed by a Glyphid Web Spitter, or is surrounded and distracted by either swarms or tankier units.

Kursite Infection Variant

Kursite Analyser booting up! Volatile Kursite deposits in the area are infecting the local wildlife! Get as many samples as you can from the infected beasties, we need to get to the bottom of this!
— Mission Control

Kursite Glyphid Acid Spitter are rare Glyphid Acid Spitters infected with the parasitic crystalline Kursite biomineral that often appear when a Kursite Analyser is activated. It is unknown if these specimens were infected only when the Analyser is activated or has long been infected but stayed dormant until the machine's activation.

What is known is that these infected Acid Spitters are easily distinguishable from its non-infected kin by the presence of large glowing Kursite deposits emerging from its back and legs.

Attacks

Other than visual appearances, Kursite Glyphid Acid Spitters behave almost exactly the same as a regular Acid Spitters, with the only exception being that it obviously drops a giant chunk of Kursite to be used and extracted once killed.

Due to the sickly-yellow glow of the Kursite on their exoskeleton, Kursite Acide Spitters are actually much easier to spot than regular Acid Spitters, however, due to their penchant of range attacks and hiding behind sight, Kursite Acid Spitters is paradoxically an irritating enemy to fight against, given the time limit present even with the added advantage of their high visibility.

Of the Kursite varieties, the Acid Spitters are the most vulnerable but easily the most common variety and due to this, the Analyser requires more Kursite from these Acid Spitters than usual.

Elite Variant

The Elite Glyphid Acid Spitter is the elite version of the regular Glyphid Acid Spitter. Like all Elite enemies, the Elite Glyphid Acid Spitter looks almost identical to its regular counterparts; being only distinguished by its aura of distinct vertical red lines with the words 'elite' above their healthbar when scanned and looked at.

Attacks

Elite Acid Spitters boasts much stronger health and damage than their normal counterparts like all Elite enemies. Nevertheless, their weak points still present a vulnerability and as such, Acid Spitters would prove to marginally more annoying than usual.
